Lotte van Drunen of Beurspro KTM won both heats of the final North/West region selection round of the for the EMX85 motocross European championship series in Kaplice, Czech Republic. Van Drunen got holeshots in both heats and was unchallenged on the day.
The event at Kaplice was the last opportunity for riders to qualify themselves for the European Championship final, to be held at Riolo Sardo in Sardinia on 18 September. The track offered many elevations changes and off-camber corners. Lotte posted the fifth fastest time during time practice initially, but set out again, and secured the second spot for the qualifying race.
Lotte’s RK Service – tuned KTM got her off well at the start of the qualifying race. She quickly moved into second spot, and a lap thereafter took the lead. With a faultless ride, she secured pole position for Sunday’s races. In the first race, her reaction time was impeccable, and the launched as soon as the gate fell. She built her lead lap by lap, and rode to a relaxed victory.
The second race was a near carbon copy of the first, and it was clear that the young lady brooked no opposition on the day. Lotte was crowned the overall victory for the day, and significantly also took the qualifying series victory. She will now focus fully on her preparation for the European Championship series finale in Sardinia on 18 September.
