Lotte van Drunen of the Beurspro KTM team finished claimed second spot at the second round of the Open Dutch Championship series at Borculo.  Lotte finished second in both heats, which yielded her a triple of two’s for the day.

Lotte checked out the track before going out for qualifying, and posted the second fastest qualifying time, a harbinger of what was to come. This allowed her to choose a good start gate. Alas, she experienced too much wheelspin when launching for race one. This cost her the holeshot, but she still managed to join the fray in second place.  She kept the leader honest, but lost a bit of time on a number of occasions when passing back markers.  She crossed the line in second position.

Lotte and her two brothers again checked out the track between races. Dark skies were looming as the riders lined up for the second race. Lotte got away in third, and to her frustrations, it took four laps to make the pass into second. The leader had by then disappeared, but Lotte gave it her all to try and close the gap. The race was cancelled during on the sixth lap due to heavy lightning and rain, and Lotte had to be content with the second position that she occupied at the time.

With two second places, Lotte was second overall. The next round of the series will be at Halle this coming Sunday.
