Kjell Verbruggen of the KTM Youth MX Team has moved into the lead of the Open Dutch 250 motocross championship after the third round of the series at Oss. Verbruggen finished second overall at Oss and claimed the championship lead.

Oss is one of the more spectacular motocross tracks in the Netherlands. This was further boosted by perfect weather conditions, making for great racing.  Kjell was quick to get the hang of the track and qualified second.

His good gate pick unfortunately did not translate into good starts.  In the first race he came back from outside the top ten to second, after a long tussle with the eventual race winner.

In the second race, he had to come back from outside the top 15.  His good speed was on perfect display, but he took a while to find a smooth rhythm. By getting to third, he ensured second overall for the day.

“My bad starts did not help me at all today.  I lost a lot of time in the early laps, but the positive outcome is that I am now leading the Open Dutch Championships. I am very pleased with this, since it is my first year in the series,” Kjell said.

The last round of the championship series will take place at Westerbork on 11 October.
