Lotte van Drunen of the Beursfoon KTM Team continued on her winning ways at the Open Dutch Championship 65cc motocross event at Marum, In the first race, she had to recover from a first lap crash and repass nearly the entire field to finish third. In the second race, she claimed an early lead and an easy victory, which also hauled the overall laurels her way.

After the European Championship event at Lommel, Lotte spent a few days adjusting to the big wheel bike. The 65cc big wheel class rode together with the 85cc small wheel class, which added some additional challenges. Lotte qualified second, ensuring herself of a good start gate.

A decent start in the first heat was quickly undone by a crash. With a huge amount of time lost, she set about working her way forward again. She passed riders left, right and centre, but to her own disappointment could get no higher than third.

Lotte had a better start in race two, and quickly assumed the lead. From this position she was never challenged, and rode to a comfortable victory. The overall honours also came her way.

The plucky young lady will now resume training on the small wheel bike again. The European Championship qualifying series continues in Slagelse, Denmark in two weeks’ time.
