The Beursfoon KTM team finished first, second and fourth in the international beachrace in Vlissingen, the Netherlands last weekend. Scott Smulders managed to win the race in front of Kay de Wolf and Sem Beijer took fourth place overall.
Scott Smulders was riding on Saturday a Benedu Cup race in Kleinhau, Germany and managed to win there as well. Smulders took pole position in the morning with an advantage of six seconds over the second place rider. In both heats he took the holeshot and started to pull away from the rest of the field. In the first moto he won with an advantage of fifty seconds and in the second race he had a gap of more than a minute!
Things went well for Scott at the Beachrace in Vlissingen as well. In the opening moto he started to close down the gap to leader Kay de Wolf but unfortunately he collided with a backmarker and crashed. He dropped back to third but started a charge and fought his way back to the rear wheel of de Wolf. Scott tried everything to pass him but ran out of time and finished second.
In the second moto he took a not so good start and came out of the first corner in eight place. He started to work his way back to the front of the field and when the leader made a mistake, Scott took full advantage of it and took over the lead. He kept the pace high till the end and won the race. With this win he also took the overall win!
Kay de Wolf took the win in the first moto but had to be satisfied with second after a crash in the second moto. Sem Beijer took fourth overall with a 5-4 moto score!
The Beursfoon KTM team will now travel to Geldermalsen for a Dutch Open round next weekend!
