Going into the 2018 season, the Beursfoon KTM team set itself some goals for each if the championship series it was to participate in. With the Dutch Masters of Motocross having come to a conclusion at the Zwarte Cross at Lichtenvoorde, their expectations for this series have been met. Kay de Wolf was crowned champion yet again, Scott Smulders claimed third spot and Sem Beijer finished tenth. All of these results would not have been possible without  the team’s loyal staff, sponsors and supporters,

The Zwarte Cross attracted more than 200.000 visitors this year. Spectators were several rows deep all around the track. Scott Smulders claimed pole position in the 85cc class on Friday. Kay de Wolf secured the second gate, and Sem Beijer slotted into ninth on his Eurol- lubed bike.

The KTM’s got well prepped with fresh Twin Air filters for each race. Scott and Kay barrelled to the front at the start of race one, going into the first corner in second – and third spots respectively. They closely followed the leader, and halfway through the race, Kay moved into second spot. He pressurised the leader on his HNR tuned bike, and claimed the lead as the race wound down. From then on he was not challenged, and won convincingly. He had bow claimed enough points to secure the championship. Scott made some efforts to get into second, but eventually finished third.  Sem Beijer had a lesser start, and despite a hard-to-pass on track, he recovered to tenth.

New HGS exhausts and Prox clutches before the second race had the bikes crisp and strong, and Scott claimed the holeshot in race two.  Kay was sitting pretty in third spot. Scott had by now built up a gap, and Kay had to haul him in once he had gotten into second. Kay claimed another win with teammate Scott second. Sem enjoyed the smooth workings of his Reiger suspension and finished 11th, which brought him into the top ten in the championship standings.

The Beursoon team is in full preparation for the final round of the European Championships at Loket in the Czech Republic next weekend.
